Dr Cameron Whitehead has been awesome to work with, very knowledgeable, helpful, and caring. I came in with several issues and have left feeling much better. Dr Whitehead has also given me several exercises that I can use in the future to specifically help with the issues I’ve been having. Michelle at the front desk has been a joy to see every time as well, very friendly and welcoming! Highly recommend!

I highly recommend Iowa Spine and Performance! For one, their staff is incredibly friendly and personable. Michelle at the front desk was kind, attentive, and helpful. She got me straight in with Dr. Cam as I was experiencing excruciating leg pains from exercise. Dr. Cam provided an insightful and humorous session thorough his evaluation! He came up with solutions for solving the problem as well as some strategies for working through the pain and preventing it in the future. My favorite addition was that they recorded videos of me (with consent of course) doing the stretches to later send to me as a helpful tool. Dr. Mike is also an incredibly welcoming individual who helped oversee the assessment. Overall, the experience was great and the practices of Iowa Spine and Performance were incredibly useful!

I saw Spine and Performance 5 times for IT Band pain and rotator cuff pain. The one-on-one approach is nice and the people are genuinely nice, especially Michelle. My 2 star rating is because: 1.) they charge a $50 “non covered service fee” for every visit that is not ever submitted to insurance or covered in any way. This is not normal in the industry after talking to a couple other PTs. To be fair, michelle was transparent about this fee and I thought maybe it would be worth paying if the PT was exceptional but ultimately, for the reasons below, I couldn’t justify paying it every visit. 2.) My PT wanted to only focus on my knee. It seemed like he didn’t want to discuss my shoulder at all even when I pressed him on it. Like at all. This was really odd to me- you’re telling me you can’t give me a simple shoulder exercise or warm up routine to start making progress there while we also figure out my knee? They are two completely unrelated body parts. When I asked for a simple shoulder exercise/stretch my PT was reluctant to give me anything. He very reluctantly showed me one shoulder stretch on my first visit. On my 2nd or 3rd visit when I asked for something else, he told me not now, and that we just needed to focus on my knee. On my 5th and last visit, I asked again if there was a different shoulder exercise I could do to keep making progress there while we worked on the knee. ANYTHING. Just give me something. He visibly got frustrated with me, his face got red, and he was offended I asked about my shoulder again. He reluctantly gave me another exercise for my shoulder but was NOT happy about it. He did it to get me out of his hair, not to help me. What type of PT wouldn’t be happy about having a patient that wants to make as much progress as possible??? That attitude was enough for me to switch PTs. I felt like I’d be a patient forever with that attitude. 3. I would not call this a chiropractor. I got one 30 second adjustment total during my 6 total visits. He didn’t really check my hip alignment, feel for any pressure points or pain points on my back/hip/spine, or do much of anything that a typical chiro would do on a new patient. I switched to Athletico on Ingersoll where they are excited about hitting my knee and shoulder every appointment. They found it odd that a PT would not be willing to address a knee and a shoulder at the same time if the patient said it was a priority for them. I’m happy with the switch.

I had an excellent experience with this Dr Mike and his entire staff. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and cared for. The staff is professional, friendly, and attentive, and they make sure you’re comfortable every step of the way. Dr Mike the acupuncturist is extremely knowledgeable, takes the time to listen, and clearly explains the treatment process. I noticed real improvements and felt relaxed and confident in the care I was receiving. I highly recommend this practice to anyone looking for effective acupuncture treatment in a calm, supportive environment.
